WHAT IS MEDICAL
ACUPUNCUTRE

We use Medical Acupuncture (Med Ac), which is grounded in modern health science principles, including clinical reasoning and medical diagnostics, which are known from physiotherapy. Acupuncture is therefore carried out by a physiotherapist, who is a healthcare professional who is certified in acupuncture. The other type of acupuncture is Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (TCM), which rests on the Taoist philosophy of nature, which is often categorized as alternative treatment.

WHY
ACUPUNCUTRE

Acupuncture has been shown in several clinical studies and test to have a good effect on the treatment of pain in muscle and tendon tissue, as well as the relief of migraines and tension headaches. There are very few side effects associated with acupuncture, however, there are some precautions that must be taken into account, for example needle phobia, use of blood thinners, infections, open wounds etc.

HOW DOES IT
WORK

Acupuncture treatment takes place by inserting thin needles into the skin and muscles. The needles help to stimulate the nerves, which results in local increased blood flow and activation of pain-relieving hormones. Finally, acupuncture treatment can positively affect the mental experience of symptoms and pain. It is important to remember that acupuncture is a tool that cannot always stand alone when treating a problem. You can therefore expect that your treatment course can be supplemented with, for example, home exercises or other forms of treatment.
